The resort runs two service centres — Guosong and Xiaozhen — each with cable car access to the summit. Our guide will advise on which to use each day based on your family's level and snow conditions.

🌙 Night Skiing Available

Wanda Changbaishan is one of the rare resorts in Asia where you can ski after dark. Daytime sessions run 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with a dedicated night skiing session from 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM under full floodlighting. This opens up your days considerably — mornings can be reserved for off-slope excursions to Heaven Lake, the Mojie forest, or the local food street, and you can still get a full session on the mountain in the evening. A genuine advantage that most ski destinations simply don't offer.

RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS

Guosong Service Centre

Quieter than Xiaozhen and ideal for first-timers — fewer skiers means more space to practice without worry. Adjacent to the Wanda Jin Resort, so it's a short walk from most hotels. The magic carpet area here is long, wide, and perfectly gentle for children getting their first feel for snow.

PROGRESSION & VARIETY

Xiaozhen (Little Town) Service Centre

The larger of the two centres, with a greater mix of beginner and intermediate slopes, making it the hub for families where different members are at different levels. More facilities on-site including slope-side restaurants and equipment rental. Best for days when the group wants to split up and ski their own runs.

Wanda Changbaishan is a full resort destination — there's plenty to fill off-ski days and evenings, especially for children who want variety.

♨️ Hannashan Hot Springs

A geothermal hot spring complex within the resort grounds, adjacent to most hotels. Soaking in outdoor pools at −15°C with steam rising around you is one of those childhood memories that lasts a lifetime. Many hotel packages include one complimentary visit.

🌊 Wanda Water Park

An indoor water park operating during the winter season (December–March) — a great option for rest days or younger children. Several hotels include water park day passes in their winter packages.

🛷 WowCool Snow Park

Perfect for all ages with a multitude of rides and animal interactions — snow tubing, sledding, themed snow play zones, and up-close wildlife encounters make this a resort highlight. No ski experience needed, and children absolutely love it. Included in many hotel winter packages.

Changbaishan's crown jewel — a volcanic crater lake frozen solid in winter, surrounded by 16 peaks blanketed in snow. The scale is breathtaking and unlike anything in Southeast Asia. In winter, access is by snowmobile from the road end — an adventure children love in itself.

🎣 Ice Fishing on a Frozen Lake

A quintessential Changbaishan winter activity. Holes are drilled through the thick ice of a frozen lake and you're set up with rods and bait inside a cosy heated tent — making it perfectly comfortable even for young children. What you catch can be grilled on skewers right at the lakeside. A hands-on, memorable family experience that's uniquely Northeast China.

Meat grilled on heated iron plates made from Changbai Mountain volcanic rock, which locks in juices. Located on Commercial Street opposite Hannashan Hot Spring. Great for post-hot-spring dinners. Staff will help grill if you're unsure how.

Korean-Style Cuisine

Given Changbaishan's location on the Chinese-North Korean border, Korean-influenced food is genuinely local here — not imported. Expect bibimbap, Korean BBQ, and cold noodles alongside Chinese staples. Several restaurants on the food street specialise in this.

Day1Arrival

Fly in, Settle In & First Taste of the Mountain

Our on-site ETEX Travel representative meets your family at the hotel lobby, handles check-in, and gets you oriented. Equipment fitting confirmed for the morning. For those who already ski or snowboard, the evening is yours — head up for a night skiing session under the floodlit slopes, a rare and exhilarating experience. Not on skis yet? Explore the resort town on foot and settle in with a proper Northeast Iron Pot Stew dinner — the warming regional dish that sets the tone for the week.

Day2Ski

First Ski Lesson & WowCool Village

Morning beginner lesson at the Guosong service centre — magic carpet access, 1:2 coach-to-student ratio, fully focused on getting everyone comfortable on snow. After lunch, take time to wander through the WowCool Snow Village, where ice sculptures, carnival rides, and animal interactions make for a fun break from the slopes. Spend the late afternoon at the indoor Wanda Water Park — slides and pools for all ages, a great way to wind down after a physical day.

Day3Ski

Full Day on the Slopes — Chairlifts & Beginner Runs

Today is a full ski day — no distractions, just mountain time. Put yesterday's lesson to work: take the chairlifts up and start descending the beginner slopes independently. Coaches are on-hand for those who want continued guidance. This is the day confidence is built and the sport starts to click. Cap the evening with a soak at Hannashan Hot Springs — outdoor geothermal pools at −15°C, steam rising around you, a perfect reward for a big day on the mountain.

Day4Off-Slope

Heaven Lake Morning & Final Ski Session

An early start for the morning excursion to Tianchi — the volcanic crater lake frozen solid in winter, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. A short snowmobile ride brings you to the rim; the scale and silence are breathtaking. Return to the resort by early afternoon with enough time to squeeze in one final ski session, taking everything learnt this week back onto the slopes for a confident close to your mountain days.

Day5Departure

Morning Ski Session & Fly Home

One last morning run on the slopes before checking out — a final chance to show how far everyone has come since Day 1. Check out and airport transfer to Changbaishan Airport for the early afternoon flight. Fly home with full cameras, sore legs, and plans to come back.

A full day away from the resort packed with Changbaishan highlights. Start with the snowmobile ride up to Tianchi — the volcanic crater lake frozen solid in winter, framed by 16 snow-capped peaks. From there, head to the Mojie geothermal river for a rafting run through the otherworldly "demon world" rime forest, where mist and frost-covered trees create a scene like nowhere else. Round off the day with dinner in a traditional igloo — the iconic Northeast China hotpot experience, insulated from the cold while steam and warmth fill the space around you. For those with energy to spare, night skiing awaits on your return to the resort.

Leisurely Ski Day — Hone Your Skills & Lunch on the Mountain

No rush today — take your time exploring new routes and runs as your skills continue to sharpen. The highlight is lunch at the on-slope restaurant at the summit, with panoramic mountain views and a well-earned hot meal. After lunch, advanced skiers and snowboarders can carve their way back down; beginners and those wanting to take it easy can hop on the cable car for a scenic ride to the base. A relaxed but rewarding day on the mountain.

Terrain Park & Jump Runs — Push Your Limits

Time to add some excitement. Explore runs that feature natural rollers, banked turns, and small jumps — a step up from the standard slopes that keeps the mountain feeling fresh. Coaches guide those who want to try their first jumps safely, while more confident riders can start testing their limits on the terrain features. Still primarily a ski day, but one that reminds everyone why this sport is addictive. Farewell dinner together on Commercial Street to close out the slopes.

Day7Departure

Morning Ski Session & Fly Home

One last morning run on the slopes before checking out — a final chance to show how far everyone has come since Day 1. Check out and airport transfer to Changbaishan Airport. Fly home with full cameras, sore legs, and plans to come back.
